Uncontended, and why the SLA wording matters
Two things on this offer are worth reading carefully rather than skimming. The first is “uncontended and symmetrical”: most business fibre is sold with a contention ratio, so the advertised speed is shared, and upload is usually a fraction of download. An uncontended symmetrical line behaves the same at 4pm as at 4am and uploads as fast as it downloads, which is what video calls, cloud backups and a hosted PBX actually depend on. The second is that the SLA is tiered from 99.5% to 99.99% with service credits — an uptime number without a credit attached is a marketing figure, and one with credits is a commitment. Ask which tier your quote is on, because the gap between 99.5% and 99.99% is roughly nine hours a year against under an hour.
Who TSL Telecomms is a fit for
- Businesses that need genuinely uncontended symmetrical fibre with a contractual SLA
- Multi-site companies wanting fibre, cloud PBX, security and IT support under one contract
- Organisations needing direct cloud peering to Azure, AWS or Google Cloud

What does TSL Telecomms provide?
Dedicated symmetrical business fibre, cloud-hosted PBX, SD-WAN and private cloud, network security, LTE and microwave backup, and fully managed ICT services. It also distributes Sharp printers and display screens.
What does “uncontended” mean?
The bandwidth is reserved for you rather than shared with other customers, so the line performs the same at peak times as off-peak. Most business fibre is contended.
What uptime is guaranteed?
SLAs are tiered from 99.5% to 99.99%, backed by service credits if breached. Ask which tier a quote covers — the difference between the two ends is several hours of downtime a year.
Can TSL replace our old PABX?
Yes. It sells a cloud-hosted PBX with HD voice, number porting, call recording, a mobile softphone and Microsoft Teams integration.
How long has TSL been operating?
Since 2009. It is a Level 1 B-BBEE contributor with infrastructure across all nine provinces and on-site support in the major metros.
What happens if the primary line fails?
LTE and microwave backup links with automatic switchover are offered. Confirm whether failover is included in your quote or priced separately.
