Home-Connect shows you the price before you enter an address, but the fee terms are where to look closely
Home-Connect is a retail fibre internet provider for homes. The fibre in your street belongs to an operator such as Vumatel, Openserve or a private estate network; Home-Connect sells the package, bills you and handles support. Its strength is transparency on price. Pick a network on the homepage and you see every uncapped speed and its monthly price, so you can work out the cost before you sign up. The range is also wide, with packages on 26 networks, which helps in estates where few ISPs operate. The monthly fee is only part of the cost. The service runs month-to-month, but leave inside the first year and you pay the activation and installation fees for your network. The terms also mention an R998 activation fee at sign-up, and building packages show an R850 once-off fee. Phone support runs seven days a week until 8pm. For people not ready to commit, prepaid fibre on Vuma Reach, Openserve and Zoom Fibre and Telkom fixed LTE are useful extras. Before you sign, ask for the total once-off cost on your network and what you would owe if you cancelled in month six.
Who Home-Connect is a fit for
- Households, especially in estates on smaller networks such as Balwin, Steyn City or Kikuyu, that want to see the monthly price up front.
- Renters or short-stay homes on Vuma Reach, Openserve or Zoom Fibre that prefer prepaid fibre or a 14-day trial to a debit order.
- Homes that want fibre and an inexpensive landline-style phone (TalkTalk from R99 a month) on one account.

How much is Home-Connect fibre?
On 3 November 2026 Home-Connect’s uncapped home fibre started at R338 a month (Evotel, 10/10 Mbps). The price depends on the network at your address: on Vumatel it ran from R518 for 30/30 Mbps to R2,448 for 1000/500 Mbps, and on Openserve from R368 for 20/10 Mbps to R1,438 for 500/250 Mbps. The package cards don’t state whether VAT is included, so confirm the total and any once-off fees before you sign. For reference, the 15 verified Fibre providers on WhichVoIP that do publish prices charge R279–R999 per month for an entry package, rising with speed and a business SLA — a yardstick for the figures above. Is Home-Connect fibre on a contract?
It runs month-to-month and you cancel in the client portal with a calendar month’s notice. The catch is the first year: cancel within 12 months and, except on the Activate Package, you pay the activation and installation fees for your network. A 7-day cooling-off period applies after your order is accepted.
Which fibre networks does Home-Connect sell on?
Its homepage lists packages on 26 networks, among them Vumatel, Openserve, MetroFibre, Octotel, Evotel, Zoom Fibre, Frogfoot, Vodacom, MTN and several estate networks such as Balwin, Steyn City, Polo Fields and Kikuyu Estate. Home-Connect does not own these networks; it resells access and handles billing and support.
Does Home-Connect have prepaid fibre?
Yes, on three networks. Vuma Reach starts at R268 for 30 days in selected areas, Openserve Prepaid offers a 14-day free trial and then R390 for 30 days, and Zoom Flex on Zoom Fibre starts at R304 for 30 days. You pay again only when you want to reconnect.
Do I have to return the Home-Connect router?
Only if you leave within the first 12 months: the free-to-use router stays Home-Connect’s property for a year and must be returned within two weeks of cancelling in that period. After 12 months it is yours. Zoom Fibre and Evotel clients don’t get the free-to-use router.
How do I contact Home-Connect support?
Call 010 612 0611, Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 20:00, or WhatsApp 060 083 5358. You can also log a ticket by email, ask for a callback, or check the network status page and the Home-Connect app.
How does Home-Connect compare with other fibre providers?
Home-Connect stands out for publishing prices on 26 networks and for seven-day phone support, but check the once-off fees and the first-year exit cost on your line. The fibre comparison puts scored providers side by side, and the fibre provider directory lists others that may serve your address.
This listing is maintained by WhichVoIP, an independent South African telecoms comparison service running since 2019. Details are verified against the provider’s public website and were last checked on 3 November 2026.
