A named suburb list beats a national claim
BCWiFi publishes exactly which suburbs it serves, which is more useful than the national coverage claims larger providers make. Heidelberg, Jordaanpark, Overkruin, Rensburg and Bergsig are named, and anything outside that list needs a direct conversation rather than an online check. The no-landline point is worth understanding: fixed wireless delivers the connection over radio, so there is no Telkom line to rent and no copper theft to worry about, but there does need to be a workable path between your roof and the tower. The parent computer-services business means the same team can look at the machines behind the router, which suits a small office without its own IT support. Which areas does BCWiFi cover?
The company advertises availability in Heidelberg, Jordaanpark, Overkruin, Rensburg and Bergsig. That is the published list, so an address outside those suburbs needs to be checked directly rather than assumed.
What does uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled actually mean?
Uncapped means no data limit, unshaped means traffic types are not prioritised against each other, and unthrottled means the speed is not deliberately reduced after heavy use. Those are the company’s own terms for the service. Ask whether any fair-use policy still applies.
Do I need a landline for BCWiFi?
No. The service is delivered over fixed wireless, so no telephone line is involved. Equipment is mounted at the property and connects to the network by radio.
Is BCWiFi the same company as BC Computer Services?
Yes. BCWiFi is the internet service of BC Computer Services in Heidelberg, which is why the website sits on the bccs.co.za domain. The Google profile is listed under B C Computer Services.
How much does wireless internet through BC Computer Services (BCWiFi) cost?
Packages are mentioned but no prices are published, so the monthly figure has to be quoted for your address. Ask for the installation cost and the monthly charge separately, and check whether the equipment is bought or rented. For reference, the 8 verified Wireless providers on WhichVoIP that do publish prices charge R219–R735 per month for an entry package, depending on speed and line of sight, so expect a quote in that band. Compare published prices or get up to 3 quotes.
Is BCWiFi licensed?
The site describes the company as a licensed telecommunications service provider but publishes no ICASA reference number. That is common among small regional operators. Request the number directly if you need it on file.
