Can I use my old analogue phones with a VoIP system?
Yes. A small device called an Analogue Telephone Adapter (ATA) converts your old handset’s signal into VoIP, so it can ride on a modern cloud platform. It works, and it saves hardware money upfront, but the handset stays stuck at basic calling: no HD voice, no transfer, no park, no presence. What an ATA actually does
An Analogue Telephone Adapter is a translator. It sits between your old phone and your internet connection and converts between two languages that were never meant to meet.
Your old handset speaks in a continuous analogue signal. A VoIP platform speaks in digital packets sent over the internet. The ATA takes the analogue signal from the phone, turns it into VoIP data on the way out, and reverses the process on the way in.
