Who is responsible for what WhichVoIP publishes?

Mechelle Gindra is Editorial Lead at WhichVoIP, published by Telecoms Media Group (Pty) Ltd. She owns the published scoring rubric, the review corpus and the sourcing standard, and carries editorial responsibility for what appears on the site – including the corrections when we get something wrong.

Comparison sites are easy to run badly. You take the money, you rank the payers first, and nobody can check you because nothing is sourced.

WhichVoIP is built the other way round, and that only works if someone is accountable for it in public. That is what this page is for.

What the role covers

Editorial responsibility for the published record, not a byline on a marketing page.

The scoring rubricThe five weighted dimensions, their band descriptors, and the rule that any score above 7.0 must cite verifiable evidence on the page carrying it.
The review corpus67 published provider scores across 6 categories, each with a dated verification stamp and a published method.
The sourcing standardEvery published price, contract term and feature flag carries the URL it came from and the date it was read. If it cannot be sourced, it does not go on the page.
The independence lineSponsorship is disclosed wherever it appears and has no effect on any score. Corrections are free for every provider, paying or not.
CorrectionsWhen a published figure is wrong, fixing the fact, recomputing anything that depends on it, and republishing every page that renders it.

How the work is done

The method is published in full, so you can check the output against it rather than taking anyone’s word.

Provider scores are computed, not assigned. Five weighted dimensions – pricing and value, feature set, customer reviews, reliability and uptime, support quality – produce a figure to one decimal place, by a fixed formula with no editorial override field. Where a dimension cannot be assessed, the weighting is redistributed and the page says so in visible text.

Public review data is read directly from Google and HelloPeter rather than from search results, and corrected for volume so that a provider with ten glowing reviews does not outrank one with tens of thousands of mixed ones. That correction lowered scores across the corpus when it was introduced, and the lower numbers were published.

The full method, including the parts of it that are limitations rather than strengths, is set out at how we review.

✓
The test that matters: in the August 2026 re-score, the site’s highest-rated provider was a paying sponsor, and its score went down. The lower figure was published. A rubric that has never cost a paying customer anything is not being applied.

Areas covered

Business communications and connectivity in the South African market.

AreaWhat it covers
Cloud PBX and phone systemsHosted PBX, on-premise replacement, extensions and licensing
VoIP and SIP trunkingCall rates, trunk sizing, number porting, interconnects
Business fibreNetwork operators, retail ISPs, and the difference between them
Business wirelessFixed wireless and licensed spectrum where fibre does not reach
Contact centreAgent platforms, queueing, omnichannel and reporting
AI voice agentsAI receptionists and voice automation, including measured deployment data

Regulatory context is treated precisely rather than loosely: a software or reseller business holds an ECS licence, a network operator holds ECS and ECNS, and hardware carries type approval. Those distinctions decide what a provider can actually sell you, so we do not blur them.

Contact and corrections

If something published here is wrong, the fastest way to fix it is to tell us, with a source.

Provider corrections are free and are not conditional on any commercial relationship. Send the correction and its source and it will be verified, applied to the underlying fact, and pushed to every page that renders it. The same applies to buyers who find a published price that does not match a quote they were given.

Editorial and correction enquiries go through the contact page. Commercial and sponsorship enquiries are handled separately and are set out at advertise with us, deliberately, so that the two never run through the same conversation.

Check the work

The method is published, the facts are dated, and the reviews are all in one place.
