Wired Ethernet is always the better choice for VoIP. Wi-Fi introduces jitter risk, particularly in open-plan environments with congested 2.4 GHz channels. If wireless is unavoidable, use a dual-band model and keep the phone within strong range of the access point. Never use 2.4 GHz only for a high-volume desk.
Most desk phones draw power through the Ethernet cable (PoE). If your switch does not support PoE, each phone needs a separate power adapter.
