Remi Review

Remi is an AI receptionist for South African businesses that live by their diary: clinics, salons, lodges, restaurants and trades. It answers calls around the clock, books over WhatsApp and SMS straight into the booking system you already use, and on its top plan also chases unpaid invoices. Every plan is priced in rand on its website. It suits an owner-run practice that loses bookings to missed calls, provided English or Afrikaans on the phone is enough and email or WhatsApp support will do.

Direct answer

Is Remi worth shortlisting?

Yes, for a booking-led business that misses calls, as long as you test it first. Remi lists every plan in rand, gives you a free week on a line it sets up for you and connects to the diaries South African practices already use, including Cliniko, Fresha and Google Calendar. Its terms promise no uptime and name its telephony and AI suppliers as outage risks, it publishes no support phone number, and there are no public customer reviews to judge it by yet. Use the trial week to ring it with your own customers’ questions before you move your main number.

Quick verdict

Priced in the open and wired into your diary, but unproven in public

Remi presents itself as an AI employee rather than a phone system. On the Lite plan it answers every call in a natural voice, books, moves and cancels appointments, texts back anyone whose call it missed, and replies to booking requests by WhatsApp, SMS and email. The Complete plan adds invoice chasing through its PaidUp tool, deposits, packages and memberships, staff clock-in and leave, and campaigns that offer empty slots to regulars, each of which you approve before it goes out.

The pricing is the strongest part. Three plans are shown in rand with their talk-minute allowances, the overage rate of R1.85 a minute is published, there is no setup fee and you can leave at the end of any paid month. The company behind it is registered in England, but its terms are governed by South African law and it names a South African Information Officer under POPIA.

The score is held back by what sits underneath. Calls run on Twilio, speech on Soniox and Microsoft, and replies on models from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI, and the terms say plainly that outages at those suppliers can affect the service. Support is by email or WhatsApp, and with no public reviews yet, your own trial week is the only real evidence you will have.

Score breakdown

Five categories that decide whether Remi earns a slot on your shortlist. Customer reviews could not be scored, so the headline is the weighted sum of the other four.

Pricing value7.5

A full rand rate card with minute allowances, a published overage rate, a free week, no setup fee and monthly cancellation. Held back because the VAT basis is left open and the AI voice starts at R1,900.

Feature set7.5

Voice, WhatsApp, SMS and email in one assistant, with direct booking and accounting integrations, reminders, invoice chasing and approved campaigns. Capped because calls are answered in two languages and the product is built around bookings, not general call routing.

Customer reviewsNot scored

Remi has no Google listing and no South African rating we could find on 21 and 22 October 2026, so this dimension is left out rather than guessed.

Reliability and uptime5.5

Built on established suppliers, with its database and hosting in the EU. Held back because Remi owns none of the call path, publishes no uptime figure and its terms rule out any guarantee of uninterrupted service.

Support quality5.0

Email and WhatsApp contact and a hand-off to your own team for anything sensitive. Held back by no published phone line, no stated support hours and no review record of how problems are resolved.

What real customers say

We quote customers only from a provider’s own Google listing, read on the day we check it.

Remi has no public Google reviews yet. We searched Google Maps for Remi by name, by category and at its registered London address on 21 October 2026, and again by name on 22 October 2026, and found no listing. That is common for a young AI service that has no shopfront, but it means there is no independent record of how Remi performs for South African callers. We have not borrowed ratings from other platforms, and Customer reviews is left unscored until a listing exists. Ask Remi for two current South African clients you can phone, and judge the free week on your own calls.

What Remi does

Four jobs sold as one AI employee, unlocked plan by plan.

Reception

Answers, books and texts back

From Lite, an AI voice picks up every call day and night, books, moves and cancels appointments in your own system and handles the repeat questions about prices, hours and parking. A caller it missed gets a text straight away, and booking emails from a connected Gmail or Google Workspace inbox are answered too.

Get paid

Invoice chasing with PaidUp

PaidUp pulls overdue invoices from Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or a Google Sheet and follows up over WhatsApp and email with a one-tap payment link, stopping as soon as the client pays. It is built into Complete and sold on its own from R299 a month.

Growth and operations

Reminders, campaigns and staff tools

Reminders go out 48, 24 and 2 hours ahead, and high-value bookings get a confirmation call. On Complete, Remi offers freed slots to your waitlist, asks clients for reviews and proposes win-back offers that you approve first, and staff can clock in and request leave over WhatsApp.

  • You want a full business phone system with extensions and call routing
  • You will only shortlist providers with a track record in public reviews

South African essentials

Four local signals to verify before signing.

POPIA and call recording

Remi acts as your operator under POPIA and names Ashton de Pontes as its Information Officer. Callers are told when recording is on; recordings are kept 14 days and conversations up to 24 months. Check your own privacy notice covers an AI answering on your behalf.

Where your data goes

Its privacy policy lists suppliers in the USA and EU, including Twilio for calls and Anthropic, Google and OpenAI for replies, under terms that bar training on your conversations. Ask how patient or client details are kept out of the AI if you run a clinic.

Support and fallback

Contact is by email and WhatsApp, with no support hours published. The terms tell you to keep a human fallback for urgent matters, so decide who answers when Remi hands a call over.

Contract and billing

Card billing monthly in advance through Stripe, renewing automatically; cancel any time, effective at the end of the paid month. The agreement is governed by South African law, although the company is registered in England.

How this score was built

Scores are editorial guides, not guarantees. Remi’s 6.7 is the weighted sum of the four dimensions we could score, with the weights rescaled because Customer reviews is not scored: (0.25×7.5 + 0.25×7.5 + 0.15×5.5 + 0.15×5.0) ÷ 0.80. Sponsorship does not move a score.
