What are the best alternatives to IAMX for a South African business?
If you want an AI voice agent at a price you can read before anyone calls you back, the IAMX alternatives to look at are Remi, a packaged receptionist with 500 talk-minutes for R1,900 a month; BizAI, whose Voice Valet receptionist is a R999 monthly add-on to a CRM plan from R999 ex VAT; and ElevenLabs, a self-serve agent platform from $6 a month. IAMX scores 5.6. It suits a business that wants an agent designed around its own calls and systems, possibly with the phone system as well, and one named lead accountable for delivery. Look elsewhere if you need a published price, a product you can switch on yourself this week, or customer evidence you can check before you sign.
What is IAMX?
IAMX (Pty) Ltd is a Glenhazel, Johannesburg company, registered in 2026, that delivers AI and telephony projects either itself or through a network of specialist partners, with one IAMX lead answerable to the client from the first call to delivery.
Its AI voice agents answer, qualify and route calls, follow behaviour written as plain instructions, answer from the client’s own documents, book into a calendar and update a CRM during the call, and transfer to a person or another line. The same firm lists seven other services, including hosted or on-site office and call-centre telephony with queues, IVR, predictive dialling, wallboards and CRM screen pops. Its rollout method is cautious: one type of call first, tested in a simulator, widened only when it meets measures agreed at the start, with callers told up front that they are speaking to an AI. IAMX scores 5.6/10 in our review. Features (7.0) are its strongest dimension; pricing value scores 4.5 because no prices, setup fees or contract terms are published, reliability scores 5.0 and support 5.5, and customer reviews are not scored because we found no Google listing. Contact is a web form and an email address, with no phone number or support hours published, and no named clients or case studies yet.
How do the IAMX alternatives compare?
IAMX sits in the last row for reference. Scores come from each service’s WhichVoIP review (July 2026 rubric), and prices were read on each provider’s website on the dates given in the sources note. ElevenLabs charges in US dollars, Remi and BizAI in rand, and IAMX quotes per project.
| Provider | Best for | Entry price | Strongest dimension | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ElevenLabs | An in-house team building its own agent | $6 / month (75 min) | Features 8.0 | 6.8 |
| Remi | Booking-led businesses that want it running this week | R1,900 / month (500 min) | Pricing and features 7.5 | 6.7 |
| BizAI | Small teams that want calls logged in a CRM | R1,998 / month ex VAT (plan + add-on, 100 min) | Support 6.5 | 6.7 |
| IAMX (reference) | Custom agents, with the phone system if needed | Quoted per project | Features 7.0 | 5.6 |
Each review breaks the score down across pricing value, features, reliability, support and customer signal, and Compare AI voice agents lists every AI voice service we have scored.
Which IAMX alternative fits you?
Start from the reason IAMX does not fit.
The three alternatives in detail
ElevenLabs – a platform your team builds on
Strength: ElevenLabs gives an in-house team the same kind of building blocks an integrator would use, at published prices: a free tier with 15 call minutes, Starter at $6 for 75, Pro at $99 for 1,238 and Business at $990 for 12,375, all before taxes. Agents can book, write to a CRM, message, transcribe, transfer to a number and call outside tools over MCP. It scores 8.0 for features and 7.0 for reliability, the best of the four on both.
Watch-out: Nobody builds it for you. The AI model is billed on top, calls run over your own telephony provider, customer data sits in the United States by default and SLAs come only with Enterprise terms. Support is its weakest score at 4.5, below IAMX’s 5.5, which reflects that you are mostly on your own.
Remi – a ready-made receptionist with a rand price list
Strength: Remi is a finished product rather than a project: the Lite plan answers calls around the clock with 500 talk-minutes for R1,900 a month, and its terms let you cancel at the end of any paid month. It is built for clinics, salons, hotels, restaurants and trades, books into Cliniko, Acuity, Fresha, Nookal and Google Calendar, texts back missed callers and replies by message in all 11 official languages. It scores 7.5 for pricing value and 7.5 for features.
Watch-out: What you get is what Remi offers; there is no custom build around your own systems. Calls are answered in English and Afrikaans only, the operator is a company registered in England and Wales, and support is by email and WhatsApp with no South African number. Support scores 5.0 and reliability 5.5.
BizAI – a receptionist that comes with a CRM
Strength: BizAI sells a South African CRM with an AI receptionist on top, all priced in rand: Starter is R999 a month ex VAT for three users and Voice Valet adds R999 with 100 AI-answered minutes. It answers in English and Afrikaans with switching mid-call, transfers to a person with context, and offers WhatsApp and email support in South African business hours. Its 6.5 for support is the highest of the four.
Watch-out: Like IAMX, BizAI quotes for volume: above 100 minutes a month there is no published rate. AI processing runs through overseas sub-processors it names, and cancelling takes 30 days’ notice. BizAI changed its prices after our September review, which listed a R599 Starter plan, so confirm the current list when you compare. Reliability scores 6.0.
This page carries no customer quotes: none of the four services has a Google listing with reviews, and their reviews leave customer reviews unscored rather than take ratings from other sites.
Our verdict
IAMX makes sense when the voice agent is bespoke or part of a wider phone and call-centre project, and you value one accountable lead over a ready-made product; it scores 5.6 because so little of that can yet be checked from outside. Most small businesses that only need calls answered and booked will get there faster with Remi, which is priced and running within a week. Choose BizAI if those calls should feed a CRM your team already works in, and ElevenLabs if you have the people to build and look after the agent yourselves.
Weighing a custom build against a ready-made receptionist?
Tell us the calls you want handled, your monthly volume and the systems the agent must work with, and we will introduce you to vetted South African AI voice providers. WhichVoIP doesn’t sell any of the services on this page, so the comparison has no stake in which one you pick.
