What are the best alternatives to Remi for a South African business?
The Remi alternatives worth testing are ElevenLabs, a self-build voice-agent platform whose Starter plan costs $6 a month for 75 call minutes; BizAI, whose Business CRM plan at R3,400 a month ex VAT includes an AI voice receptionist with 500 minutes; and AiSky, which speaks all 11 official South African languages on calls and charges R0.97 a minute beyond its included pool. Remi scores 6.7 and is a good fit for a booking-led practice: plans in rand, a free week and direct links into Cliniko, Fresha and Google Calendar. Businesses look elsewhere when callers need a language other than English or Afrikaans, when they want the receptionist inside a CRM, or when they want to build and host the agent themselves.
What is Remi?
Remi is an AI receptionist that answers a business’s calls around the clock, books and moves appointments in the diary the business already uses, and texts back anyone whose call it missed.
It is sold in rand on monthly plans: Basic from R990 (WhatsApp and SMS booking, no voice), Lite from R1,900 (AI voice with 500 talk-minutes) and Complete from R6,500 (2,500 talk-minutes plus PaidUp invoice chasing, deposits and staff tools), with extra minutes at R1.85 and no setup fee. It connects to Cliniko, Acuity, Fresha, Nookal and Google Calendar, sends no-show reminders at 48, 24 and 2 hours, and replies by message in all 11 official languages, although calls are answered in English and Afrikaans. Remi scores 6.7/10 in our review: pricing value and features (7.5 each) are its strongest dimensions and support (5.0) its weakest, and customer reviews are not scored because it has no Google listing yet. The company behind it, THE VISIONARY PLATFORM LTD, is registered in England and Wales; its terms are governed by South African law, promise no uninterrupted service and name Twilio, WhatsApp and its AI provider as outage risks, and support runs by email and WhatsApp with no South African phone number published.
How do the Remi alternatives compare?
Remi sits in the last row as the reference. Each score is the one on that service’s WhichVoIP review (rubric of July 2026), and each entry price was read from the provider’s own website on the date in the sources note. ElevenLabs prices in US dollars; the others price in rand.

The three alternatives in detail
ElevenLabs – a voice-agent platform you build on
Strength: The lowest way in of the four: the Starter plan is $6 a month for 75 call minutes and six concurrent calls, Creator $22 for 275 minutes and Pro $99 for 1,238 minutes, all before taxes. Agents can book appointments, push to a CRM, send messages, keep transcripts and transfer a call to a person, and they can connect to external tools through MCP servers. Features score 8.0, the joint highest in this group.
Watch-out: The price on the plan card is only part of the bill. The AI model is billed on top, there is no telephony in the plan, customer data is hosted in the United States unless you are on Enterprise, and SLAs are only offered on Enterprise terms. Support, at 4.5, is its lowest-scored dimension, and no South African rating of the voice-agent service exists to check it against.
BizAI – a receptionist that lives in the CRM
Strength: BizAI prices everything in rand and publishes it: Smart CRM from R599 a month ex VAT, the Voice Valet receptionist add-on at R999 with 100 answered minutes, and the Business plan at R3,400 with 500 minutes and twenty users. Setup is free if you do it yourself (done-for-you setup is R850 an hour), there is no contract or cancellation fee, and the receptionist handles six calls at once with booking, CRM capture, messaging and hand-off to staff.
Watch-out: Minutes beyond the allowance cost R3.50 each on the add-on (R3 on Enterprise), almost twice Remi’s R1.85, so a busy line on the R999 add-on gets expensive fast: on Starter plus the add-on, the bundled Business plan becomes the cheaper route at around 600 minutes a month. Reliability, at 6.0, is its lowest-scored dimension.
AiSky – every official language on the phone
Strength: AiSky speaks all 11 official South African languages on calls, works on the number you already have, takes inbound and outbound calls, books into Google, Outlook and Calendly diaries and pushes leads to HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive. Extra minutes cost R0.97, billed per second, with alerts at 80% and 100% of the pool, and there is no setup fee or minimum term. It is led by John Woollam, who ran Euphoria Telecom from 2018 to 2023.
Watch-out: The 250 included minutes are given once, not every month, so most months are billed from the first minute at R0.97 on top of R2,399 (or R1,999 a month on a yearly plan). The software is SmartAlex, built by THERCSGROUP in Singapore, with AiSky as its South African distributor, and the SmartAlex terms govern the service. Reliability, at 5.5, is its lowest-scored dimension.
No customer quotes appear on this page because none of the four services has a public Google listing with reviews to quote from; customer reviews are left unscored on each of their reviews rather than borrowed from elsewhere.
Our verdict
Remi is good value for what it is built for: a clinic, salon or trade business that loses bookings to missed calls, books in a supported diary and serves callers in English or Afrikaans. It publishes every plan in rand, includes 500 minutes on Lite and scores 6.7. Look elsewhere when your callers need another official language, when the team wants the receptionist inside a CRM, or when you want to build the agent yourself. Test AiSky first for languages and a phone support line, BizAI for an all-in-one CRM, and ElevenLabs if you have the skills to build and host your own agent.
