ONEdotCOM, a merger between BCS NET and DNS Telecom, was launched today (10 August 2011) promising to add value to the SA telecoms market
ONEdotCOM, which forms part of Blue Platinum Ventures, is positioned as the holding company?s South African corporate brand and will take voice, data and video in converged end-to-end services to the corporate market.
According to ONEdotCOM CEO, Niel de Wet, the strength of the group has been used to position ONEdotCOM uniquely in a niche market.
A merger between BCS NET and DNS Telecom, ONEdotCOM benefits from more than 28 years experience in the telecoms industry and combines the solid operational infrastructure of BCS NET with the sales, marketing and customer facing experience of DNS Telecom.
De Wet said telecoms is no longer about telephones and the internet. In fact it has very little to do with either, it is all about giving a client the right information package, delivered in the right way to the right person ? it is about providing information.
?In the business environment, access to information is critical. It enables business decisions, verbal information, spreadsheets, accounting forms, stock reports ? everything that benefits the customer?s business. This applies to any multi-branch environment ? retail, manufacturing, mining and financial services,? said De Wet.
He said that the telecommunication industry is too reliant on the type of connectivity it is selling rather than what is best suited to the customer. ?Speed and bandwidth are important, but the efficient access or availability of the right information is even more critical,? said de Wet.
ONEdotCOM?s MD responsible for end user supplier services, Vaughan Humphrey, said what counts is ?co-opetition? or collaboration with the major players in the industry.
?Not being dedicated to a single transmission mechanism means we can mix and match the best of what is available in SA and provide a unique bouquet specifically customised to our clients? requirement,? he said.
This would be impossible without ONEdotCOM?s telecommunication infrastructure and license agreements.
?As a new telco carrier in the market, the company aims to position itself as a true first-tier player with its own voice correlation platform, cable system or infrastructure, and multiple nodes with international presence,? said Willie Olivier, MD ONEdotCOM Telco, who is responsible for telecommunications infrastructure within ONEdotCOM.
?This enables the company to provide a truly converged service, economies of scale and 100% redundancy on its networks with an uptime guarantee,? he said.
ONEdotCom said that they will focus heavily on rapid deployment, competitive pricing and outstanding professional service to ensure success.
