The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has announced the launch of its online Numbering Portal, revolutionizing the management of phone numbers within the country. In line with ICASA’s Numbering Plan rules, the new portal aims to facilitate efficient and transparent management of national telecommunication numbers.
The Numbering Portal, accessible at https://www.icasa.numberingportal.com/, serves as a centralized platform for optimizing the national number range, promoting regulatory compliance, and providing scalability and flexibility. It streamlines the application and reporting process, making it more convenient for licensees to request telecommunication numbers and reducing the likelihood of manual errors.
Licensees can now submit their numbering requests through the portal, simplifying the process and enhancing compliance with regulatory guidelines and requirements related to numbering resources. This significant development allows ICASA to effectively monitor and audit the allocation process and the use of numbering resources nationally, as mentioned by Yolisa Kedama, the acting chair of ICASA.
